St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Blackall

Prep – Year 6 Co-educational
School Motto

Effort Wins Success

Overview

Our school was originally established by the Josephite Sisters in 1917 to serve the Catholic families of the far west. St Joseph’s School exists for the education of children from Prep to Year 6 and is a co-educational facility still serving the township and surrounding properties of Blackall. St Joseph’s also provides a Kindergarten service on the school site which delivers a play based learning program for students aged 3 or 4 years of age.

Our Mission Statement also emphasizes a child centred education which recognises and respects the needs and talents of each individual, this is paramount to what our school and our patron saint St Joseph are all about.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School has developed high standard single stream and multi-age learning environments, with a key focus on supporting all children to reach their full potential in all aspects of school life. At St Joseph’s we continue to plan, teach, assess and report using the F-10 Australian Curriculum. Students from Prep to Year 6 are also exposed to specialist Physical Education, Dance and Drama lessons, while students from Years 5 and 6 study Japanese via online technology through The Cathedral College in Rockhampton weekly. Integrating set curricula with every day life skills and events within the Christian context is a priority.

At St Joseph’s we are committed to continually improving teaching and learning pedagogies to provide an engaging learning environment for all students. We recognize the importance of community within the school context and strive to build strong and meaningful relationships where home, school and parish work together to make Jesus real in our lives.

The Rockhampton Catholic Education Office personnel are providing every school with the latest curriculum updates to ensure your child is receiving a quality education. The school based curriculum documents are regularly reviewed to ensure their relevance to your child’s education.
