Catholic Education - Diocese of Rockhampton (CEDR) Kindergartens, Schools and Colleges are distinctive in nature, giving witness to the message of Jesus and the mission of the Catholic Church[1]. Catholic identity manifests itself in a range of ways and serves to inform the vision, policies, priorities and practices of Catholic institutions. This identity is central to all aspects of life in CEDR, and all members of the educational community have a responsibility to contribute to it.

Catholic identity is visible through:

  • signs and symbols
  • people’s relationships with one another
  • high-quality, inclusive learning environments
  • the way in which the educational community responds during challenging times
  • care and stewardship of the environment

CEDR Kindergartens, schools and colleges are welcoming and inclusive of all. They nurture the innate spirituality of each student, recognising the varying experiences of and connection to faith of those who work and learn in CEDR. Catholic Kindergartens, Schools and Colleges offer an environment where children and young people learn about God and are invited to develop and strengthen a relationship with God, supporting all in their search for Meaning for Life.

Formation, Identity and Religious Education (FIARE) Team

  • Members of the FIARE Team at the Catholic Education Office, under the leadership of the Assistant Director: Mission, support Catholic kindergartens, schools and colleges by:
  • assisting with the development, implementation and review of the Catholic Education -Diocese of Rockhampton Religious Education Curriculum and resources to support teaching and learning
  • providing advice and support to key personnel such as Assistant Principals – Religious Education, and Assistant Principals – Mission
  • assisting teachers to gain and maintain their Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School and Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School through offering professional learning opportunities
  • developing and delivering course content to students completing the Catholic Specialisation as part of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) at CQUniversity
  • providing support and advice in the areas of Catholic Identity, Religious Education and staff and student formation
  • promoting relationships with parishes and diocesan agencies to enact diocesan initiatives
  • providing support for and access to Religious Instruction for students enrolled in state schools
