New Principal welcomed at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, North Rockhampton

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, North Rockhampton has welcomed new Principal, Mrs Sheila Challacombe, to the school community this year.
Mrs Challacombe said she was extremely excited to begin her new role at St Mary’s and was full of praise for the school’s strong and supportive school community.
“St Mary’s has such a kind, supportive and welcoming environment. I am so blessed to be part of it, and I am very much looking forward to working with this wonderful school community,” Mrs Challacombe said.
Holding high expectations for all and encouraging everyone to strive to be the very best version of themselves each day were key leadership approaches for Mrs Challacombe.
Mrs Challacombe is also very passionate about inclusive education and differentiated learning.
“Learning can be challenging enough without additional lifelong barriers. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, regardless of individual circumstances.”
“As educators, it is our responsibility to support students and provide the highest quality education possible,” Mrs Challacombe said.
Born and raised in Central Queensland, Mrs Challacombe comes to St Mary’s after five years as Principal of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Clermont, a role she enjoyed immensely.
“My time as Principal at St Joseph’s brought me great joy, it’s the most wonderful rural community.”
“The move to Rockhampton provided an opportunity for myself and my husband to be closer to our adult children and their families. Time spent supporting them as they grow and learn is something we both cherish,” Mrs Challacombe said.
Mrs Challacombe said she welcomed the challenge of a larger school setting and was committed to working with the community to foster a safe, welcoming and well-ordered school environment.
