Emmaus students awarded scholarships

Emmaus College, North Rockhampton are celebrating the success of two of their 2020 graduating students in Queensland Government Awards.

Adelaide Lapere was awarded a Merit Certificate in the TJ Ryan Memorial Medal and Scholarships. This Award represents a long-standing tradition of recognising educational achievement in Queensland. The Award is a memorial to Thomas Joseph Ryan, former teacher, barrister and Queensland Premier (1915–1919), and is provided to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to high academic achievement and outstanding leadership in both their school and the local community. Hearty congratulations are extended to Adelaide on receiving this Merit Certificate as part of the prestigious TJ Ryan Memorial Medal and Scholarships.

Warm congratulations is also extended to 2020 Emmaus Graduate Georgia Hood who was a successful applicant under the Aspiring Teacher Grant program sponsored by the Queensland Government. Successful applicants receive a one-off lump-sum grant payment of $2,500 for general applicants or $5,000 for rural or remote residents during the first semester of study to assist with study-related expenses such as a computer, textbooks and stationery.

The success of Adelaide (TJ Ryan Merit Certificate recipient) and Georgia (Aspiring Teacher Grant recipient) are testament to their dedication to their studies and to the commitment of Emmaus College to encourage in their students the pursuit of academic excellence.
