Adult Faith Education Formation Goal Statement
Our focus is to: - Plan for and promote adult faith education, formation and training, and
- Provide a variety of ways to explore and affirm the links between lived experience and the Gospel tradition
in order to
Support all Catholics in our Diocese to live out their baptismal call to fullness of life.
Our work includes opportunities for
Theological study, liturgy appreciation, leadership formation, family based catechesis, adult spiritual development and social justice education.
We do this work in collaboration with
local people, pastors, parish pastoral associates, parish adult faith coordinators, those involved in Catholic Schools and State School Religious Education, and other diocesan ministries.

Mr Joe McCorley OAM Diocesan Coordinator Faith Education & Formation
Over the past 45 years, Joe has enjoyed the excitement, the challenges, the privilege and vulnerability of being a professional educator.
His professional career began with the State of Queensland Department of Education in 1961 as a primary teacher. Over the next 20 years, Joe worked as teacher and principal of five schools in different areas of Queensland and finally as a District Inspector of Schools.
In 1980 he was called to a vocation in Catholic education as Supervisor of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Rockhampton. Joe was appointed as the first lay Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Rockhampton in 1989, a position held for 13 years. In 1986 he was awarded an OAM for his services to education.
Following a five year period as Director of the Queensland Catholic Education Commission, Joe is delighted to return “home” to the Diocese of Rockhampton to coordinate Adult Faith Education and Formation and Religious Education in State Schools.
Married to Judy with five children and 15 grandchildren, Joe has been gifted with a strong faith, a zest for life and a passion for Catholic education of all ages.

Karen joined Diocesan Catholic Education Office as secretary to the late Dr Peter Young in Continuing Religious Education in July 1996. She then worked for Gerard Goldman for five years under the banner of Adult Education and Formation. The name remains almost the same (Faith Education and Formation) under which Karen worked for several years for Jane O'Shea. She now supports Joe McCorley, the current Coordinator.
