Catholic Network Australia is a consortium of Catholic Diocese nationally participating in a national telecommunications network. At the initial launch on the 1st March 2010, 1,622 schools and education offices across the country were committed to CNA to deliver fast broadband access to participants through predominantly fibre optic services.
The project, in partnership with Telstra Corporation, will also dramatically increase high-speed broadband connectivity to schools in order to enhance virtual learning, collaboration and administration. Education services including an education portal, directory and access to The Learning Federation (TLF) Sharing Exchange and Scootle service which houses over 9,500 learning and teaching resources are also delivered through CNA.
The Rockhampton Diocese is committed to high-speed broadband to schools by committing to 10Mb Fibre services into colleges and 2Mb Fibre services into primary schools greater than 100 students. Those schools with less than 100 students will have an ADSL service.CEnet is a consortium of Diocese across New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory. CEnet's purpose is to connect and support Australian Catholic schools as they integrate information and communication technologies in the provision of contemporary learning and teaching and evangelisation.
CEnet procures and manages on behalf of member dioceses' an educationally focused platform which provides a secure and filtered internet access, web based communication/collaboration/eLearning tools and curriculum resources.
The Rockhampton Diocese has been a member of CEnet since 2006 through the implementation of a Diocesan Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting all schools to CEnet infrastructure and adoption of the Learning Management System, Mysuite.
